Course Description

Although the exam(s) associated with this course has been retired by Microsoft, this course still retains value as a training resource & learners will receive a certificate of completion after completing the course.

This Microsoft Installation, Storage and Compute with Windows Server 2016 online course covers the objectives in the 70-740 exam, which is one of three exams required to earn the MCSA: Windows Server 2016 certification.

MCSA: Server 2016 is broken into three exams that mirror the three stages of implementing Server 2016 in an enterprise environment. This 70-740 training teaches you how to install Server 2016 and do the initial configuration. It also covers the new features of Windows Server, like containers, Nano servers, and failover clustering.

After finishing this Server 2016 training, you'll know how to plan and install a Windows Server 2016 infrastructure, including how to set up AD, set group policies, and be able to use Hyper-V and containers. It’s all the stuff you’ll handle on a daily basis. For that reason, this is valuable training for anyone who just started using Server 2016 — even if you’re not planning to get the certification.

Learning Objective

This MCSA: Windows Server 2016 training maps to the Microsoft 70-740 exams objectives, and covers topics including:

  • Install and manage Windows Server Core
  • Use Key Management Service (KMS) as an activation model for server installation
  • Create VHD and VHDX files using Disk Management or Windows PowerShell
  • Configure storage pools, tiered storage, iSCSI, and iSNS
  • Implement and configure deduplication
  • Configure virtual machine (VM) settings
  • Manage Windows containers by using Docker CLI
  • Implement disaster recovery, failover clustering, and Network Load Balancing (NLB)
  • Manage and monitor Windows Server by using Windows Admin Center

Once you’ve passed this exam, you’ll be able to move on to exams 70 741: Networking with Windows Server 2016 and 70 742: Identity with Windows Server 2016.

Who is this course for?

This Server 2016 training is considered associate-level Microsoft training, which means it was designed for systems administrators. This 70-740 course is valuable for new IT professionals with at least a year of experience with Microsoft servers and experienced systems administrators looking to validate their Microsoft skills.

Whether you want to sit for the exam, or simply improve your job performance, our course will give you the expert insight to learn the key concepts and latest updates to Windows Server 2016.
